Shedding Installation - Willow framework, greaseproof paper, monoplate print, paint and oil pastel - August 2020
An experiment with my colour palette and how that and the materials address each other. I have started to use greaseproof paper which behaves very differently to tissue paper but can still be moulded and printed on. The colour of it echoes gold and alchemy which is apt as I make new work and feel change is afoot. This has been in the pipeline for a while and the snake-like structure I made is now curled up and hanging low to the ground. Shedding skin as a snake does, reflects a rebirth. The paper, again is printed and drawn on with oil pastels and paint. Mark making and a painterly process is vital to me. In these pieces I am printing with my Mum’s coffin top flowers but using oil pastels which create a resist.
