When my Mum moved to Kent, we had to sell the family home. This was a wrench which led me to the mapping of my childhood garden. I wanted to bring this work off the wall, to bring it to the ground,  to trace the garden out with my finger then walk on the mapped-out garden in order to say goodbye in a ritualised way. I made marks as well as printing the plants that were grown in the garden.

“A ritual is a symbolic action through which we can give our soul, or psyche, an important message.” (William Ayot, 2016)

​This was a significant moment, as it marked the time when my work began to become more sculptural.
